Barry Wolpert, BS
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Mr. Wolpert holds a Business Degree from Northeastern University College of Business Administration. Mr. Wolpert spent thirty five years with Eli Lilly and Company. During his career he held a number of responsible positions in a variety of disease state disciplines. Two such disciplines were neuroscience and medical managed care which required special training at the University of Michigan Medical Center and The Hospital Research and Development Institute at Community Hospital as well as with Aetna Insurance Managed Care Division. Mr. Wolpert has developed a long term understanding of the health care industry and applies this knowledge to daily operations of Synergy Group Services, Inc.

 

David L. Liporace, D.O.
MEDICAL DIRECTOR

Dr. David Liporace is an acclaimed award winning physician who has maintained a private practice in Internal Medicine since 1989. During his years of private practice Dr. Liporace has blended the finest aspects of traditional and holistic medicine to best serve his patients. Dr. Liporace is board certified and is a Diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine. In addition, Dr. Liporace holds several academic positions including Clinical Professor of Medicine, Nova Southeastern University School of Medicine and Clinical Instructor, New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. As a national educator of his peers, Dr. Liporace lectures across the country on such topics as Bipolar Disorder, ADHD, Major Depressive Disorders, Sleep Medicine, Men's and Women's Health and Cardiovascular Diseases. Dr. Liporace also serves as a Clinical Consultant for several pharmaceutical companies and has participated in all phases of FDA sanctioned clinical research.

 

Lisa S. Liporace, MSW, LCSW
CLINICAL DIRECTOR

Lisa received her Master's Degree in Social Work from Florida State University in 1991. She has been licensed in the State of Florida as a Clinical Social Worker since 1994. Lisa has over 12 years experience as an individual, family, and group therapist specializing in the areas of Chemical Dependency and Dual Diagnosis. She also has experience in treating addictive disorders such as Eating and Gambling. In addition, Lisa worked in the Pharmaceutical Industry receiving extensive Pharmacological training on medications used to treat numerous Mental Health Disorders.

 

Leslie K. Gonzalez, MA, RD, LD/N ADS
DIRECTOR OF ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE

Leslie has a Holistic Health graduate Degree from Western Michigan University, and is a Certified Acupuncture Detoxification Specialist with the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association. Leslie also holds a Masters Degree in Dietetics, and an Undergraduate Degree in Nutritional Science from the University of Florida. Leslie combines her education and experience to provide a Holistic Approach to assist patients with detoxification and the healing process of addictive behaviors. Leslie Gonzales has been trained in Bio Feedback Technology by Meditation for Wellbeing.

 

Kathryn C. Shafer, Ph.D, ACSW, LCSW, CAP, E-200RYT

Dr. Kathryn Shafer earned her Doctorate at Barry University in Miami Florida designing and studying the effectiveness of an international substance abuse training for health care professionals in the former Soviet Union. She completed her Graduate and Undergraduate studies in Social Work at New York University. She has held academic appointments at many universities including Assistant Professor in the School of Social Work at the University of South Florida, Tampa; and Research Director of the International Traumatology Institute. These appointments are only two of 10 that she has been appointed to since 1993.

Dr. Shafer is known for her work as a psychotherapist, teacher, educator, and practitioner of mindbody interventions for emotional and physical health.
She conducts interventions and assessments for addicts and their families.
Dr. Shafer is a certified Yoga instructor, has authored publications and conducted research on these and related subjects.

For over 25 years Dr. Shafer provides services as a clinician, professor,
administrator and consultant. Dr. Shafer has given presentations as a keynote, guest lecturer, and appeared on numerous radio and television programs to discuss many topics pertaining to health, substance abuse, and trauma. Dr. Shafer has extensive experience in dealing with Eating Disorders and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

 

Bridget L. Chesnes, M.S., L.M.H.C
THERAPIST

Bridget received her master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University, and is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. She holds a bachelors degree in Education from Loyola University in New Orleans. Bridget has worked extensively in the area of Substance Abuse providing individual and group counseling in residential, outpatient and correctional settings. For nearly three years, she was a therapist at the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Drug Farm. Bridget also worked in an intensive residential treatment program with pregnant and postpartum women with addictions. In addition, Bridget received further training in suicide and crisis intervention from the Alachua County Crisis Center in Gainesville, Florida.

 

Jana Keene, MSW, LCSW
THERAPIST

Jana received her Master’s degree in Social Work from Barry University. She holds a Bachelors degree from The University of South Florida. Jana has extensive experience working as a therapist with clients with substance abuse issues. She gained much of this experience while working with the Substance Abuse Awareness Program. Jana also has experience working as a therapist in a psychiatric hospital where she was able to develop her skills as a therapist utilizing both art and play therapy techniques. Jana also does individual, group and family counseling.

 

Judy Llodra, RD, LD/N, CPT

Judy received her Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition and Food Science from Hunter College, NY.  While completing her Bachelor’s Degree, she became a Certified Personal Trainer.  Judy has extensive experience in a variety of holistic, clinical and wellness environments where she has used her expertise to promote total body wellbeing.   She employs a mind-body approach in assisting her clients toward meeting their goals and living their lives in balance, harmony and addiction free.  

 

Pervis Parker, BS
PERSONAL TRAINER

Pervis holds a BS degree from Concord College. Pervis is a former professional football running back and is a certified personal trainer with special certifications in nutrition, special populations and sports training as well as an extensive background in working with clients in recovery from alcohol/substance abuse. Pervis has designed and implemented numerous programs for Synergy clients. He teaches physical fitness and helps motivate and generate a healthier lifestyle.
